Many marine species lives in this reef such as whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whale, dugong, sea turtle, and many more. To support this ecosystem from the impact of human use like fishing and tourism, there was Marine Park that was built to maintain the use of this coast, sea, and reef as tourism and water sport destination. Australian parliament has been set several rules in order to keep the use of this area such as it is a limitation for the use of cruise ship and bareboat charter.
